A success for the environment

RITTEC Umwelttechnik winner of the Next Economy Award at the 13th German Sustainability Award

Empty juice bottles, cheese packaging, to-go boxes: Where many people have dirty cities and oceans in their minds, the team at RITTEC Umwelttechnik see great opportunities for raw materials. With their solution for recycling management, they became winners of the Next Economy Award, presented on 4 December at the 13th German Sustainability Day.

The company convinced the jury of experts and conference participants with its solution to generate PET plastic from plastic waste in the future instead of fossil crude oil – and to save 60 percent CO2 in the process. “We are extremely pleased to receive the Next Economy Award. We know that we are on the right track”, says RITTEC founder Carsten Eichert confidently, “this is also shown by the regular exchange with industry representatives”. The next step is the realisation of a mini-plant, in order to transfer the previous knowledge into a complete plant.

About RITTEC Umwelttechnik GmbH

RITTEC Umwelttechnik develops technological solutions to increase the added value in resource protection. The motivation for RITTEC Umwelttechnik is the recognition that not only quantity is decisive for the success of the recycling economy, but in particular the qualitative performance of the treatment and recycling processes. The goal of RITTEC is to develop technologies for a circular economy that avoid the downcycling of secondary raw materials and produce products with new product quality.

About revolPET®

revolPET is the recycling technology that turns PET waste into high-quality products at virgin quality level, regardless of the input material. revolPET meets the challenge of achieving depolymerisation in a continuous process without loss of value and performance. Our vision is that revolPET technology will help to solve global challenges with PET packaging. The development of the revolPET technology was funded within the research framework programme of the Federal Ministry of Education and Research “Plastics in the Environment”. In addition to RITTEC Umwelttechnik GmbH, partners in the project include the Institute for Chemical and Thermal Process Engineering (ICTV) and the Institute for Machine Tools (IWF) at the Technische Universität of Braunschweig, the Fraunhofer ICT, Reclay Systems GmbH, SCHILLER Apparatebau GmbH and VTU Engineering Deutschland GmbH.
